I have a couple questions about your store. I clicked on the pre-order to use a bit of christmas cash to pre-order the Oathbound setting and got a few questions. One, I was never asked to create a user name or sign in. I just deleted my computer's cache yesterday and while I have signed into Paizo, I haven't signed in here since that time. Is that normal and if so is the product just e-mailed to our paypal e-mail address?
Second, I noticed that there was a tax charge and a shipping and handling charge on the file. Seriously, shipping and handling on a pdf? As to tax, is there a reason you're charging tax on business done out of state?
I'm not meaning to sound negative, and really $12.00 isn't much different than $10.00 but I've learned its better to be suspicious and ask questions than blindly put private information to where it can be taken.
Will it be available on Paizo.com?
Edit: Just noticed its going to be burned to a cd and shipped, hence the shipping and handling. Does that mean its not going to be available for download? edited by ShadowcatX on 12/30/2010 edited by ShadowcatX on 1/1/2011

The store is handled by PayPal, so if you have an account with them, it may log you in automatically. All that takes place on their site. I get a copy of the buyer's address when the order is placed so I know where to ship it.
The CD thing is a temporary deal. Now that I've finished the book, I'll have time to program the website to handle downloads. Then the shipping fee will go away. To be honest, shipping costs us more than a dollar, so I'm being nice there and trying to split the difference.
Sales tax is a complicated issue. The rules vary from state to state and taxes vary greatly from place to place. Paypal doesn't offer me a way to offer different sales taxes for different people, so I decided to collect (and pay) the local rate. IMHO, the whole out of state no tax thing doesn't work anymore now that the internet exists. So I tell the state of Washington that the place of sale was Seattle, and they charge me .095 percent. Since our products are fairly inexpensive, the added amount is fairly negligible, especially when coupled with free shipping we offer on most products. IF you are worried about the tax, you can see what they charge at Paizo and Amazon.
