Osiris (or the Epidemic OSRS) is our own set of rules for running role-playing games. It was written completely from scratch, but should be easy enough for anyone familiar with other systems to pick up (we are still working on the "what is an RPG?" chapter, but I imagine if you are here reading this, you probably already know). OSRS literally stands for Open-Source RPG System, implying that we welcome all of you to add to the core rules with your own published supplements. I suspect you will find our non-legaleeze licensing agreement (found at the end of the OSRS) considerably easier to follow and read than most. As for the rules themselves, they are written without any particular setting in mind, so you should be able to use them for anything from sword and sorcery to outer space. We have personally been using these rules for many years now, and find them just as usable for a Star Wars game, as say Todd's high-fantasy Sky setting (one of our future releases). They have been designed to function realistically without getting in the way of the game or slowing down the fun. Since the OSRS is our own game system, you can probably assume that everything here on out from Epidemic Books will be written for it. (You can read about why in the next post).
